Hi, I am Denise. Its now October of 2008 and I have successfull kept my weight, blood sugar, and blood pressure under control since I started role modeling the weight loss phase. I have been in maintenance since then and use the entrees and shakes to balance my nutrition and calories. Most of the time I am using the entrees and shakes to stay healthy which gives me the occasional opportunities to splurge here and there. The key is occasional. Most of the time when I eat off the diet I eat a low calorie protein like salmon or grilled chicken. I am not a big red meat eater, so another low fat protein I might choose is an egg white veggie omelet without cheese. If I want cheese, I will choose the lowest fat, like Parmesan. However, I choose many fruits and vegetables off the menus at restaurants and at home. I do not order desserts often, and when I do I share, or get a fruit version (fruit is always a lower calorie choice) versus nut or chocolate. I also make sure I exercise everyday for 35 minutes or more-this is my Achilles heal and if I do it early in the day, I feel better and it doesn't nag on my mind all day. Anyway, if you are reading this, you probably are thinking about a weight loss program. Try us out! You won't regret it.

When my physician referred me to Denise's weight management class in May 2006, I was 180 lbs and barely able to fit into my size 12 clothes. I was miserable about the way I looked and felt. I had tried numerous other diet and weight loss plans without sucess, so when I heard about Denise I was more than a little bit skeptical. But I was also depressed, disgusted, and desperate and figured I might as well try it since nothing else was working. The minute I met Denise my skeptisism changed to optimisism. I wasn't thrilled over the idea of having to eat HMR entrees or drink shakes, but I was committed to the program so I got over it. Once I tasted a chocolate shake with banana I was totally hooked! My downfall has always been sweets (specifically chocolate!) and the HMR shakes satisify my sweet tooth beyond my expectations. Drinking three shakes a day may sound like a lot before you start the program but once you start, it's amazingly simple and easy to get those three shakes in. Same thing with the entrees; they are so simple and they really do taste great. You can eat them straight from the box or incorporate them into a fancy full blown meal. The choice is yours. After six months on Denise's program, I had lost 50 pounds and it was incredibly easy! My entire attitude has changed along with my wardrobe (now a size 6)! I feel better than ever and both me and my physician are amazed with the dramatic results. I am so pleased that, after transitioning to the maintenance phase 7 months ago, I am still 130 lbs and still enjoying compliments from people who cannot believe the transformation. I wholeheartedly recommend this program to anyone who wants to lose weight and get control of their life.

My 60th birthday was approaching, I weighed 213 pounds, I was taking a variety of medications for high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and my doctor wanted me to start on medication for diabetes. At 5’ 3” tall, I certainly did not look the way I wanted to, and more importantly, I was not as healthy as I wanted to be. I tried to lose weight on my own, but because I was not eating properly, my blood sugar numbers were going up instead of down.

Then I saw an article about Denise and the McKinney Diabetes and Weight Management weight loss program. My doctor agreed to delay diabetes medication for three months while I tried the program. At my three month check up, my doctor was so thrilled with my progress that she gave me a huge hug! Fantastic! My blood sugars are consistently 40-50 points lower so no medication is needed, and one blood pressure medication has been eliminated. The program is SO easy to follow --- and it works! The HMR entrees taste great, and the instruction from Denise is marvelous. I have been on the program for eleven months, and am in the maintenance phase. My health, my life, and my body are totally different. This program is perfect for anyone who wants to take control. I am still 60 years old, but I am only 145 pounds!

Although I haven't been the best student, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for teaching the Diabetes Education class at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. The knowledge you imparted is important to me and my family. It will benefit me and as well as my family by helping to extend my life and to maintain my relatively good health. I know what my future holds for me if I don't choose to follow the lessons you so energetically taught.

Thanks to you and those like you who are dedicated to opening the hearts and minds of the afflicted.

After having been in the McKinney Diabetes and Weight Management weight loss program for 18 days and my Glucose went down 40 points, my weight went from 279 to 261, & my cholesterol went down 70 points. I lost 13 lbs in the first two weeks before I really felt great. I plan to continue with the program because it is very effective & easy to do.

I was one of Denise's early clients, and I've been very successful in the program. I lost weight quickly (44 pounds overall) and comfortably throughout the main phase of the program, and I've kept it off in the maintenance phase. As an insulin dependant diabetic I've always had trouble losing weight and maintaining the loss, so this is wonderful. My blood sugar control has been excellent, and my insulin use is down by over 30%. I haven't been hungry at all, and I've developed healthy habits that I can use for the rest of my life - habits like eating fruits and vegetables, eating reasonable portions...things that I knew before but didn't apply. I recommend McKinney Diabetes & Weight Management to everyone who wants to lose weight and to build healthy habits. I'm living proof that the effort spent on weight loss in this program is rewarded with tangible changes in your body and your health.

I have been role-modeling the HMR diet since April 1st, 2006. This means I am practicing the same skills my clients are taught in class; I average 2800 or more physical activity calories per week, 70-90 servings or more of fruits and vegetables, 21 shakes and 14 entrees per week (or more of any of the above). As with my clients, I must practice the same basic skills to protect my weight, figure, and health. I have lost 37.5 pounds since opening in 2005, and gone from a size 12 to a 4. I look younger, no more puffiness, my rings and watch fit better, it's easier for me to exercise, and my body is much more toned than when I was heavier. I take a medication for migraines that I have been able to cut in half. The best thing I have found through my journey is how accomodating restaurants have been to facilitate staying on the diet by heating up and sometimes even preparing the HMR entrees for me. It is a very satisfying experience to feel yourself getting healthier and eat wonderfully nutritious entrees, shakes, fruits and vegetables and be able to share this experience with my clients.
